The Uprising at Swearing Creek
Howdy,
The new Board of North Carolina Cowboys, Inc had its annual meeting
on 3 February to start the planning for the Uprising at Swearing Creek
2008. I whole heartedly welcome our new board members; Wicked Wanda,
Whitehair Trigger, English Bev, and Wireman. Continuing to serve on
the Board are JM Brown, Stump Water, Sixgun Sallie, and Carolina Jack.
Before I talk about changes that have been made and general plans and
information for this year, I want to take a moment to thank the former
members of the Board who put so much into the previous matches. The
work that was accomplished in 2007, culminating in the 2007 Uprising
at Swearing Creek, could not have been done without the help and assistance
of the former Board members. Sliphammer, Kill-Em-All-Kate, and Cockroach,
put in some long hours and hard work to make sure that you, the Cowboy
shooters, could enjoy the match. They should have your thanks for their
efforts. I especially want to thank Camille Eonich, former President
of NCCI, for her efforts. Over the past two years Camille has watched
over the process like a mother hen watching her chicks. She prodded
when she needed to keep us on track, she made suggestions to make the
match better, and generally gave much more of her time than anyone should
have had to in order to make the match a success. Camille, I say that
we could not have done this without you and give you a grateful thanks
from the Board of NCCI.
And now, on to the match news.
The first order of business for the new Board was the election of the
officers who will be planning and running the match. The following Board
members were elected to the 2008 Term;
Treasurer - English Bev
Territorial Governor - Stump Water
Match Director - JM Brown.
With the new officers seated the Board
took up the planning for the match. The 13th Uprising at Swearing
Creek, The North Carolina State Cowboy Action Match will be held at
the Rowan County Wildlife Club, 30 October - 2 November 2008. This
year's theme will be a "Tribute to Louis L'Amour"
with 10 shooting stages based on individual books, including Crossfire
Trail, Reilly's Luck, The Riders of Lost Creek, Riding for the Brand,
and Conagher among others. We intend to have some different props,
to include one, if not two, moving targets, and some different ways
to use the props we already have. Throughout the year I will try and
put out as much information to you about the match as soon as I can.
